A Look At Common Personal Injury Cases Here In The United States

From motorcycle accident claims to wrongful death cases, personal injury cases are quite common all throughout the United States, and have been for quite some time. In fact, there are all different types of personal injury cases out there, from car accident cases to motorcycle accident claims to claims of medical malpractice as well. For many people, filing a claim with a skilled personal injury lawyer will be more than worth it at the end of the day, especially when you consider that a scan 4% or so of all personal injury cases are not actually able to be settled in pre trial proceedings.

Car accident and motor vehicle accident cases are by and large the most common, making up more than 50% of all personal injury cases and followed distantly by medical malpractice cases alone. These cases are common for a number of different reasons, including the fact that more people are driving now than ever. More than 250 million vehicles are now registered throughout the country, and more than 215 million people here in the United States now have a valid driver’s license, with the average driver spending nearly an hour in their car or other such motor vehicle over the course of just one day.

Over the course of just one single year, motorcycle accident claims and trucking accident claims and other such claims are common due to the sheet number of accidents that occur. In a mere 12 months, up to six million total car accidents will take place. In these accidents, as many as three million people will sustain an injury or injuries of some kind. And in many of these cases, the injuries are quite serious indeed. In fact, up to 35% of all spinal cord injuries that are sustained by people in the United States over the course of a year will be sustained in various car and motor vehicle accidents all over the country.

When it comes to personal injury cases surrounding motor vehicle accident, motorcycle accident claims have been found to be particularly commonplace. After all, the injuries sustained by motorcycle drivers are often far more severe than by people in a car or other such more contained motor vehicle. When motorcycle accidents occur, the driver of the motorcycle is actually up to 28 times more likely to occur as the result of the accident. When the motorcycle driver is not at fault for the motorcycle accident in question, motorcycle accident claims are likely to be valid. This is something that is seen in many motorcycle accident cases, which will lead to a good number of motorcycle accident claims, to say the very least.

The causes for these motorcycle accident claims and other types of car accident personal injury cases are many. One cause is that of distracted driving. With cell phones and smart phones more available than they have ever been before, people are more distracted while on the road than every before as well. In fact, data has shown that up to 600,000 plus people are using their phones or are otherwise distracted at any given moment of daylight all throughout the country – and that’s just here in the United States, let alone elsewhere in the world where distracted driving has also become a real problem. Distracted driving has already cost many lives, and is unfortunately likely to cost many more here in the United States.

And in addition to distracted driving is driving while under the influence, which is perhaps even more deadly. After all, nearly half of a million people will get behind the wheel of a car or other such motor vehicle after drinking. In just one day, a new person will be injured every two minutes by a drunk driver. And up to 28 people will lose their lives to similar incidents, all within this very same span of time. And driving while under the influence of a substance that is not alcohol is actually estimated to cause more than 15% of all car and other such motor vehicle accidents seen here in the United States. This number only continues to grow as time passes ever on.
